Entertaining. Funny. But more than that, well and intelligently written. I read a lot of books … I mean A LOT … and this was one of the better written books I’ve read in a while. A hero who is not a super-hero… self deprecating, knows his limits, but drives on for the greater good anyway. I, for one, am looking forward to more Hanson adventures. Highly recommend. 10/10 … will read again.

The action began immediately and continued at a nice pace throughout the story. Concise writing, suspense, and riveting moments make this thriller a great read. Parker is a determined investigator and a relatable character with a sense of humor that the reader can get behind. The climactic scenes and ending are fantastic. Put this novel in the win column.

Smart and engrossing; you won't want to put it down. Filled cover to cover with snappy prose, a likable, self-effacing journalist-turned-detective in Parker Hansen, and a series of plot twists and turns that'll keep you on your intellectual feet.

From the first page, I was hooked. Parker Hanson, a former journalist turned private investigator, is a sharp, witty, and deeply human protagonist. I loved the vivid New England setting, the natural humor, and the partnership between Parker and his tough, intelligent neighbour Amalia Velasquez. The plot twists kept me guessing, and the excellent writing has just the right balance of tension and reflection. ... A refreshing, character-driven mystery done by an exceptionally intelligent author. Highly recommended.
